Overview and Gameplay
Two Nintendo puzzle rulesets share one SNES cartridge in Tetris & Dr. Mario. Tetris focuses on arranging falling tetrominoes into complete lines, while Dr. Mario clears viruses by matching capsules into groups of four colors.
The package includes solo play, computer opponents, two-player versus, and Mixed Match, a competitive sequence that moves through Tetris B-Type, Dr. Mario, and Tetris A-Type before comparing scores.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves blocks or capsules, selects menu options, and speeds pieces downward.
- A rotates clockwise, B rotates counter-clockwise, Start begins or pauses play, and Select hides the next-block display in Tetris.
- Tetris uses line clears and garbage attacks in versus play; Dr. Mario uses virus clearing, crowns, and capsule attacks.
- Two-player modes are simultaneous versus contests, not alternating play and not co-op.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES release. The public title is Tetris & Dr. Mario, a compilation of enhanced versions of the two earlier puzzle games.
