Overview and Gameplay
The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night follows Spyro as Gaul prepares to restore the Dark Master during the Night of Eternal Darkness. Spyro crosses side-scrolling stages, defeats enemy groups, explores elemental temples, and searches for Cynder while following the Chronicler’s guidance.
Dragon Relics unlock movement and combat abilities such as double jumping, gliding, charging, wall climbing, and longer attack combinations. Earlier areas can be revisited after new breaths or movement skills open blocked routes. Boss rematches appear in the Hall of Memory, while combat challenges in the Hall of Fang and Claw award additional relics.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Spyro and aims certain attacks. A jumps, then supports double jumping and gliding after the related relics are found. B performs melee attacks and directional combo moves. L changes the selected element, R releases its breath attack, and Select activates Dragon Fury when the meter is full.
Fire, Earth, Ice, and Lightning consume breath energy and can each reach level 3. Red gems restore health, green gems refill breath energy, blue gems improve elemental powers, and purple gems charge Fury. Losing all health restarts the current section.
Version Notes
The North American cartridge includes English and French text. This GBA edition uses a 2D action-platform format with combo combat, revisitable stages, and handheld-specific bosses.
