Overview and Gameplay
The Beast races through castle halls, caves, forests, icy passages, and rooftops while the enchanted rose counts down. This NES platformer loosely follows Disney’s film and centers on reaching Belle before the spell becomes permanent.
Four main levels are divided into shorter sections with enemies, environmental hazards, timed objectives, and boss encounters. The Beast can walk, jump, punch, climb selected walls or curtains, grab ledges, slide on ice, and roar to stun certain enemies. Hearts restore health, rose petals affect the timer, and magnifying glasses briefly reveal more of the stage.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: Use the directional pad to walk and navigate climbing sections.
- Combat: Punch on the ground or during a jump.

- Special encounters: Some stages change the usual action, including catching snowballs and using Mrs. Potts’ projectiles against an armored knight.
- Player mode: Single-player only.
