Overview and Gameplay
An evil magician has seized the Moon Kingdom, and its prince must lead an army to rescue the captive princess. Little Magic combines turn-based strategy maps with side-view action battles. Recruit units, capture villages and magical facilities, manage money and terrain, then directly control fighters when opposing units meet.
The seven-scenario campaign carries surviving units, levels, and resources forward. Victory usually requires defeating the enemy commander or occupying the opposing headquarters, while losing the prince, headquarters, or turn limit ends the battle.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions move the cursor and units on maps, and move or crouch during battles.
- A confirms selections and jumps in combat.
- B cancels, opens map commands, and attacks during combat.
- Magic-capable units can charge spells, while character abilities, terrain access, movement, and attack range vary across the roster.
- Two-player strategy matches alternate turns, then become simultaneous action fights when units clash. A separate battle mode also supports direct versus play.
Version Notes
This is the original Japan-only Family Computer release, titled リトルマジック. It is unrelated to the later Super Famicom puzzle game with the same English name.
