Overview and Gameplay
The Hyper Beat fighter takes on waves of mischievous Cosmo Gangs in this fixed-screen Namco shooter. Cosmo Gang: The Video is the Super Famicom conversion of the arcade game, built around left-right movement, steady shooting, and clearing each enemy formation before the screen becomes dangerous.
Enemies enter from above, fire shots, dive toward the player, and appear in stage patterns inspired by Namco’s older formation shooters. Later stages add obstacles, power-up items, challenging stages, and a final boss.
Controls And Mechanics
- The ship moves left and right at the bottom of the screen.
- The main action is shooting enemies while avoiding shots, dives, and contact.
- Items can add effects such as shields, enemy-stopping support, score bonuses, or stronger firepower.
- Two-player play is supported, with both players fighting through the shooter stages.
Version Notes
This is the Japanese Super Famicom version of Namco’s arcade shooter. It is separate from Cosmo Gang: The Puzzle, which is a falling-block puzzle spin-off.
