Overview and Gameplay
The Vrax fighter is sent against Orn, a cybernetic computer threatening the Commonwealth of Humanoid Planets. Thunder Spirits is a one-player horizontal shoot ’em up related to Thunder Force AC, with eight scrolling stages, enemy waves, boss fights, weapon pickups, score bonuses, and adjustable ship speed.
Controls And Mechanics
- Combat: move the ship, fire, change weapons, and adjust speed during play.
- Weapons: the ship starts with Twin Shot and Backfire, then gains more weapons from carrier vehicles.
- Scoring: collecting a weapon already held awards a 10,000-point bonus.
- Penalty: losing a ship removes the weapon that was active at the time.
- Setup: configuration options include starting speed, game level, rapid fire, button settings, and sound mode.
