Overview and Gameplay
Lightning McQueen competes across Radiator Springs and Ornament Valley during another Piston Cup season. The campaign contains 15 events, including Road Races, Circuit Races, timed Route Races, and four Piston Cup contests.
Winning races advances the event sequence and earns Boltz used to unlock later events, alternate paint jobs, film images, and additional racers. Doc Hudson, The King, and Chick Hicks become playable after meeting their unlock conditions. Each event must first be completed with Lightning McQueen.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad steers and adjusts the car’s position, A accelerates, and B brakes. L switches between turn warnings and a short course display. During Piston Cup races, following another car fills the Draft Meter, and R releases the stored speed boost.
Sharp steering through corners produces a powerslide for tighter turns. Boost pads increase speed automatically, while slow patches, traffic, roadblocks, surface changes, and tight bends affect racing lines. Circuit finishing positions and Route Race times determine Boltz awards.
Version Notes
The Game Boy Advance edition uses fixed isometric tracks and a sequence of 15 racing events created specifically for the handheld.
