Overview and Gameplay
Mario Pinball Land follows Mario after Princess Peach is launched toward Bowser’s Castle from the Fun Fair. Mario enters the Pinballer, becomes a ball, and travels through connected pinball areas to rescue her.
Adventure Mode spans Grassy Greens, Frosty Frontier, Shifting Sands, the Fun Fair, and the Fiery Stage. Room objectives award Stars, while four regional bosses guard the Star Keys needed to open Bowser’s Castle. Numbered doors require enough Stars, and Sky Cannons connect the major regions. Time Attack Mode lets Mario revisit defeated bosses and records the fastest clear time.
Controls And Mechanics
L and the Control Pad operate the left flipper, while R and A operate the right flipper. A also confirms choices and launches Mario. B uses the carried item or cancels a selection, and Start pauses.
Enemy chains create combos, increase the score, and award Blue Coins. Coins also buy items from Toad’s shops. Pipes block drains temporarily, Mini Mushrooms open small passages, Mega Mushrooms enlarge Mario, and Lightning damages every enemy in the current area. Mario can carry one usable item at a time.
Draining from the lowest area costs a life. Continuing after losing every life preserves Adventure progress but resets the score.
Version Notes
The North American release uses the title Mario Pinball Land. Japan and Europe released the same Game Boy Advance game as Super Mario Ball.
