Overview and Gameplay

Jet Grind Radio follows the GG’s as they challenge rival gangs and the Rokkaku Group across an isometric version of Tokyo-to. Fifteen story missions require skaters to collect spray cans, reach marked walls, complete graffiti tags, and escape escalating police pursuit before time expires.

Recruitment challenges add new skaters through trick-copying, races, and tagging contests. Cleared districts unlock JET Graffiti, JET Technique, and JET Crush events, while a graffiti editor allows custom tag designs.

Controls And Mechanics

The directional pad steers, stops, reverses, and enters commands for large graffiti. A sprays tags, B jumps, and R performs a forward dash. Skaters grind automatically when they land on rails or wires, while jumps, wall rides, aerial tricks, and long grinds add points.

Yellow spray cans add one unit of paint, blue cans add five, and red cans restore health. Characters differ in power, speed, technique, and paint capacity. Link-cable modes support competitive graffiti, races, trick scoring, and battles for up to four players using separate systems and cartridges.

Version Notes

This Game Boy Advance adaptation rebuilds the Dreamcast game with isometric stages, handheld controls, redesigned missions, link-cable competition, and a graffiti editor. The European release uses the title Jet Set Radio.
