Overview and Gameplay
Lara searches for fragments of an ancient sword while investigating her mother’s disappearance and the return of Amanda Evert. The campaign moves through Bolivia, Peru, Japan, Ghana, Kazakhstan, England, Nepal, and a final return to Bolivia. Each stage uses side-scrolling rooms filled with ledges, traps, enemies, switches, movable blocks, and grapple points.
Completed levels unlock through Level Select. Croft Manor provides a separate exploration area, while Time Trial challenges cleared stages against recorded completion times. Hidden bronze, silver, and gold rewards purchase extras such as mini-games, profiles, cheat codes, and story slideshows.
Controls And Mechanics
Lara runs, jumps, climbs, swims, crouches, rolls, and drops from ledges. The magnetic grapple pulls objects, activates mechanisms, and creates swings across gaps. Firearms use limited ammunition, Health Packs restore the health bar, and an air meter limits underwater movement. Checkpoints save progress automatically.
Vehicle sections use steering, acceleration, braking, reversing, and shooting. The PDA displays objectives and equipment, while the weapon inventory allows quick selection during play.
Version Notes
