Overview and Gameplay
Boog enters the wilderness with Elliot as hunting season begins and helps the forest animals drive hunters from their territories. The campaign contains six multi-section levels with branching routes, hidden areas, trapped animals, regular enemies, and boss hunters.
Defeating each territory boss makes another animal species available as an Animal Pal. Progress also improves Boog’s health and roar, while Woo Hoo Bars purchase upgrades from Elliot’s shop.
Controls And Mechanics
Boog runs, crouches, rolls, jumps, climbs, and attacks across side-scrolling stages. He can stun enemies with a roar, carry nearby objects, and throw beavers, ducks, rabbits, skunks, or squirrels. Each Animal Pal has a different attack or defensive use.
Hearts restore health, Bear Crackers grant extra lives, Sugar Packets provide temporary invincibility, and Elliot’s flags act as checkpoints. Falling, losing all health, or exhausting available lives interrupts progress. Easy and Hard settings adjust item supply and enemy durability.
Version Notes
The North American cartridge includes English, French, and Spanish text. This Game Boy Advance edition uses a dedicated 2D side-scrolling campaign built around Animal Pals, territory bosses, and platforming stages.
