Overview and Gameplay

Superman: Countdown to Apokolips follows Intergang’s use of advanced weapons supplied by Apokolips. Superman must rescue civilians, stop Bruno Mannheim’s operations, save Lois Lane, and confront villains including Livewire, Metallo, and Kalibak.

The eight-level campaign uses isometric stages built around combat, hovering, flight, environmental objectives, and boss battles. Superman can punch, kick, use heat vision and freeze breath, lift objects, and cross large areas at super speed. A stage map marks objectives and routes through each area.

Controls And Mechanics

Use the Control Pad to move and choose directions. L makes Superman hover, R activates super speed on the ground or flight while airborne, and Select opens the map. Superman’s powers solve specific encounters, such as freezing hazards, throwing heavy objects, and attacking distant enemies.

Completed stages award up to three Superman shields based on performance. Frequent close-range combat supports a higher rating, while earning every shield unlocks additional final content. Level passwords preserve campaign progress.

Version Notes

This Game Boy Advance-exclusive prequel uses a dedicated isometric design and leads into the story of Superman: Shadow of Apokolips.
