Overview and Gameplay

Wolverine pursues Sabretooth through the Canadian wilderness and uncovers a plan to use technology from the abandoned Weapon X facility to create super-soldiers. Eight acts lead through laboratories, mountain regions, the Xavier Institute, and enemy bases.

Stages include side-scrolling combat, platform traversal, guarded infiltration, timed escapes, pursuit missions, item searches, enemy arenas, and battles against characters such as Pyro, Omega Red, Sabretooth, and Magneto. Permanent abilities including Dash, Wall Cling, Slide, Somersault, Ceiling Cling, and Dive Attack open routes and support later objectives. Hidden modules unlock optional Danger Room challenges.

Controls And Mechanics

Wolverine walks, crouches, jumps, climbs, and uses acquired movement abilities to cross each stage. The attack button performs punches, kicks, claw strikes, aerial attacks, and context-sensitive techniques. A stealth attack can defeat an unaware guard when Wolverine’s claws are sheathed.

Extended claws increase attack damage and fill the Feral Rage meter. A full meter temporarily strengthens Wolverine’s attacks but prevents claw retraction. Sheathing the claws allows his health to regenerate. Cardkeys, mission objects, extra lives, and continues support progression. Losing all health costs a life and returns Wolverine to the latest checkpoint or section start.

Version Notes

The Game Boy Advance edition uses a dedicated 2D action-platform format with eight acts, permanent movement upgrades, and optional Danger Rooms. European releases use the title X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge.
