Overview and Gameplay
Aladdin runs, jumps, swings, and glides through a Capcom platform game based on Disney’s animated film. This is the SNES version, a separate game from the Sega Genesis release, with more focus on acrobatic movement than weapon combat.
The adventure moves from Agrabah’s marketplace to the Cave of Wonders, the Genie’s lamp, a pyramid, and Jafar’s palace. Progression is stage based, with bosses in selected stages, carpet sequences, passwords, health hearts, apples for ranged attacks, and red gems tied to scoring and the best ending.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: run, duck, jump, grab ledges, climb up, and bounce from enemies or objects.
- Items: apples stun or defeat enemies, food restores health, lamps and emeralds give extra chances, and the rug lets Aladdin glide.
- Magic Carpet: carpet stages use directional flying with speed and height control.
- Players: this SNES release is for one player only.
Version Notes
The USA SNES game is titled Disney’s Aladdin. The Japanese SNES release is commonly listed as Aladdin. This cartridge represents the Capcom SNES game, not the different Genesis game by Virgin.
