Overview and Gameplay
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 follows professional and created skaters through six isometric venues, including CA College, Alcatraz, Kona, Shipyard, Zoo, and London. Each area can be explored freely before accepting timed goals from nearby characters.
Completing score targets, collectible hunts, races, competitions, and trick challenges awards Pro Points and unlocks later stages. Career progression includes Amateur goals, harder Pro goals, skater-specific Pro Challenges, stat upgrades, hidden packages, cash, gaps, and bonus content. Single Session provides timed score runs, while Free Skate removes objectives and the timer.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad steers, brakes, spins, and manages balance. B builds speed and launches an ollie, A performs grinds and lip tricks, L triggers flip tricks and accepts goals, and R performs grabs, changes stance, and activates reverts.
Manuals, reverts, grinds, and transfers link tricks into longer combinations. Spins and trick variety raise the multiplier, while a bail ends the current combo. Successful moves fill the Special Meter, enabling assigned special and flatland tricks.
Hotseat modes support alternating Trick Attack and HORSE matches. Link Cable play allows up to four competitors in Trick Attack, HORSE, Tag, King of the Hill, and Free Skate.
Version Notes
The Game Boy Advance edition uses an isometric viewpoint and a six-stage career designed specifically for the handheld format.
