Overview and Gameplay
Gekido Advance: Kintaro’s Revenge follows martial artist Tetsuo as he investigates disappearances and demonic activity around a remote village. The campaign spans five chapters with branching routes, buildings, caves, switches, keys, environmental hazards, and major battles against supernatural enemies.
Progress often requires speaking with characters, opening blocked passages, and backtracking through previously visited areas. Five-character passwords resume play from later chapters and retain the remaining credits.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Tetsuo, and a quick double-tap makes him run. A punches, B kicks, and R jumps. Attack sequences produce multi-hit combinations, while running before pressing A or B performs a charging strike.
Pressing A and B together activates a surrounding special technique that hits nearby enemies. The move recharges over time; using it before the meter is ready consumes health. Pits, spikes, fire, falling rocks, and rolling obstacles create platforming hazards between fights. Losing all health uses one credit, and exhausting the available credits ends the attempt.
