Overview and Gameplay
GT Advance 2: Rally Racing follows a world rally championship built around 14 events and 42 individual legs. Each leg places the player among staggered rival cars, with finishing targets that become stricter across the three legs of an event. Third place or better in the final leg earns a trophy, while gold results unlock cars and eventually open Expert mode.
The garage includes 15 licensed vehicles from Japanese manufacturers, each with different speed, acceleration, handling, and grip. World Rally forms the main progression, while Time Trial, Single Race, Practice, License tests, and Co-Driver mode provide separate challenges.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad steers, A accelerates, and B brakes. Manual transmission assigns downshift to L and upshift to R, while Start pauses the race. Tire choice affects traction on tarmac, gravel, mud, and snow. Setup options adjust suspension, steering response, gear ratio, and brake balance.
License tests award medals for meeting time targets. In Co-Driver mode, the player calls the direction and severity of upcoming turns while the computer drives. Link mode supports simultaneous two-player versus races using two Game Boy Advance systems, two copies of the game, and a Game Link Cable.
Version Notes
The North American release localizes the Japanese title Advance Rally. It includes the licensed rally-car roster but omits eight fictional Rally-SPL bonus cars found in the Japanese version.
