Overview and Gameplay
Iridion 3D follows an experimental SHN-Fighter sent from Earth to the Iridion homeworld after an alien invasion. The campaign scrolls automatically through seven stages, beginning in a disposal tunnel and continuing across Earth, the Moon, an asteroid field, the Iridion base, and Iridion Prime. Fixed enemy formations and environmental hazards lead to bosses with exposed weak points or protective sections that must be destroyed first.
Each cleared stage provides a password for continuing the campaign. Normal and Hard difficulty settings change the damage caused by shots and collisions.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the fighter across the screen, A fires the current weapon, and Start pauses play. Holding A produces continuous fire, while an option can reverse vertical movement.
Color-coded weapon pickups change the shot type or strengthen the current weapon through three levels. Losing a life lowers its power by one level. Energy pickups restore the damage meter, and completing a stage refills it. Score comes from destroyed enemies and collected items, with bonuses based on remaining energy and lives. Extra lives are awarded at 10,000, 20,000, and 40,000 points.
