Overview and Gameplay
Iridion II sends a lone SHN fighter against the returning Iridion forces across five galaxies. Story Mode contains 15 mission stages arranged as three selectable planets per galaxy, with later galaxies opening through progress. A Virtual Reality training sequence introduces the systems, while cleared stages become available in Arcade Mode for score attacks. Completing Story Mode unlocks Challenge Mode, a timed boss sequence, along with the Gallery and Credits.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the fighter, A fires the active cannon, and a double-tap followed by holding A charges the Super Shot. L and R cycle collected weapons when manual upgrading is enabled, B activates the selected upgrade, and pressing L and R together releases a Smart Bomb. Select locks or releases the satellite units, while Start pauses play.
Six cannons provide different firing patterns. Green power-ups strengthen weapons through three levels and add satellites that increase firepower and protect the fighter’s sides. Red power-ups add Smart Bombs, and energy pickups restore health. Stage results score accuracy, completion time, remaining lives, and unused bombs. Progress is recorded with passwords after cleared stages.
