Overview and Gameplay
2006 FIFA World Cup follows the international tournament held in Germany. Choose a national team, play through qualification and the finals, and advance by winning matches and finishing high enough in group tables.
Kick Off provides single matches, while the main tournament mode tracks fixtures, results, standings, lineups, formations, and team tactics. Global Challenge presents objective-based scenarios that award collectible posters, and Situation Creator lets you set the score and possession before play begins.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the controlled footballer. A shoots in attack and tackles in defense, while B passes or switches defenders. L modifies passes and tackles, calls a second defender, and helps select targets during set pieces. R activates sprinting, which gradually tires the player.
Free kicks, goal kicks, and penalties use timing meters for power and accuracy. Corners, throw-ins, substitutions, fouls, cards, and instant replays follow standard football rules. Two players can compete simultaneously in head-to-head matches through a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable, with one system and game cartridge for each player.
