Overview and Gameplay
Ryu, a survivor of the White Dragon Tribe, sets out to stop the Black Dragon Tribe from collecting six keys connected to a sealed goddess. His party explores towns, castles, caves, towers, and an overworld while following story events and recruiting seven companions.
Random encounters and bosses use turn-based commands. Victories award experience and Zenny for character levels, equipment, supplies, magic, and dragon transformations. Up to four party members enter battle, while character-specific abilities open routes, reveal items, break obstacles, and enable fishing, hunting, digging, sea travel, and flight.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Ryu and menu cursors. A confirms commands, talks, inspects objects, and activates the leading character’s field ability. B cancels selections or enables faster movement. L and R cycle party order and provide battle formation or defence commands.
HP determines survival, AP powers spells and special abilities, and formations affect physical damage and enemy targeting. Defeat returns the party to the last Dragon Shrine and removes one quarter of carried Zenny. Two linked Game Boy Advance systems can exchange eligible inventory or bank items between save files.
Version Notes
This enhanced Game Boy Advance port adds faster movement, temporary Suspend saving, link-cable item trading, redesigned menus, item icons, automatic sorting, separate key-item storage, and redrawn character portraits.
