Overview and Gameplay
Garfield overeats, falls asleep, and becomes trapped in nine strange dream worlds. Each side-scrolling stage assigns a specific objective, including finding keys, rescuing animals, escaping hazardous rooms, and navigating collapsing scenery. A boss battle follows every three levels. Main stages contain food items and one hidden Pooky, while completed save files allow earlier unlocked levels to be replayed.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Garfield, ducks, crawls, looks upward, and performs an elbow slam while airborne. A jumps, and B delivers ground or aerial kicks. Holding L or R while moving performs a shoulder charge that breaks designated walls, doors, and crates.
Garfield has a health meter and a limited supply of lives. Losing all health costs one life, while running out of lives ends the game. Lasagna restores health on Easy and Medium difficulty, and bosses use a separate meter showing their remaining hits. Keys open locked doors, and certain stages track special objectives such as recovered eggs or freed cats.
Version Notes
The US cartridge includes selectable English, French, and Spanish text.
