Overview and Gameplay
Three mice steal Garfield’s teddy bear Pooky and demand a ransom before midnight. Garfield searches through 12 objective-based stages, including Jon’s house, a shopping mall, a farm, driving routes, and a final attic confrontation.
Objectives include catching mice, guiding Odie to digging spots, returning chickens, collecting bones, damaging furniture, gathering food from a car, and defeating enemies. Completing the main task unlocks the next stage, while cleared levels remain available from the map.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Garfield, ducks, adjusts the camera, and steers during driving stages. A jumps, confirms choices, and grabs passing packages from the car. B attacks, performs stage-specific actions, sounds the horn, or cancels menu choices. Start pauses the game.
Garfield has limited lives, a paw-shaped health display, and a hunger meter that falls over time. Food restores hunger, milk restores health, and losing all health or remaining hungry too long costs a life. Oil creates slippery ground, while honey prevents jumping. Each stage awards points and compares the result with its maximum score. Easy and Hard settings affect completion awards, and passwords preserve progress.
Version Notes
The North American cartridge includes selectable English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian text.
