Overview and Gameplay
Riou and Jowy survive the destruction of Highland’s Unicorn Brigade and become entangled in the war against Luca Blight. The story condenses Suikoden II into ten chapters built around required card battles, town visits, and randomized dungeons.
Decks use Character, Mission, and Facility cards. Missions award Victory Points through regular battles, army clashes, or duels, while Facilities provide persistent effects after construction. Potch buys cards, fixed trades expand the collection, and dialogue choices influence the available endings. New Game Plus carries progress into another story run.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves during exploration and selects cards or commands. A advances dialogue and confirms plays, B cancels, L and R browse detailed cards, Start enlarges cards, and Select opens extra battle commands or the dungeon exit menu.
Each battle begins with a six-card hand and an optional redraw of up to three cards. Named characters can appear only once on the field, and most followers require a compatible leader. Victory comes from reaching the required VP total; failing to draw from an empty deck can cause defeat. A Game Link Cable supports two-player competitive card duels.
Version Notes
This edition uses Pokeytax’s unofficial English translation version 1.00. It translates nearly all game text, corrects misleading card descriptions, and restores a secret card and scene.
