Overview and Gameplay

Lan Hikari and MegaMan.EXE investigate cybercrimes committed by the Net-Mafia Gospel. Story scenarios move between Den City, Netopia, an aircraft, the Undernet, and other connected locations. Lan explores the real world, while MegaMan enters electronic networks to solve device puzzles, defeat viruses and NetNavis, collect Mystery Data, and earn licenses that open new routes.

Battle Chips, HP Memories, RegUP items, Buster upgrades, and Sub Chips improve MegaMan between missions. Style Change grants elemental forms based on combat habits, while optional requests, stronger Navi battles, Program Advances, chip-library completion, and a separate Hard Mode extend progression.

Controls And Mechanics

Combat takes place on a six-by-three panel grid. The Battle Setup Screen pauses action and draws chips from a 30-chip folder. Matching chip names or codes allow several selections before real-time movement, Mega Buster fire, and chip attacks resume.

The ADD command sacrifices chips to increase future selections during the same battle. Busting Level depends on speed, damage, and deletion efficiency, affecting chip and Zenny rewards. MegaMan retains damage after ordinary battles, and deletion returns the player to the last save.

A Game Link Cable supports simultaneous Practice and recorded Net Battles, direct chip trading, and win-loss records between two cartridges.
