Overview and Gameplay
Puyo Pop follows Arle and Carbuncle through a series of contests across several regions. Story progress awards runes, opens new areas, and unlocks characters, rules, gallery cards, and the Trial Labyrinth.
Each falling piece contains two colored Puyos. Connecting four or more of one color clears them, while falling pieces can trigger additional matches and chains. Endless modes include Tokoton score play and Kesubesi challenges with timed clearing objectives.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves each pair and accelerates its fall. A rotates clockwise, while B rotates counterclockwise. Chains, large groups, and All Clears send Nuisance Puyos to an opponent. Nuisance Puyos disappear when an adjacent colored group clears, and a round ends when a new pair cannot enter the field.
Game Link Cable multiplayer supports two to four simultaneous competitors through Single-Pak or Multi-Pak play. Rule sets include Normal, Double Pop, Six Pop, Point, and Hard, with additional options unlocked through story progress.
Version Notes
The North American cartridge includes selectable English and Japanese text. It was released in Japan as Minna de Puyo Puyo.
