Overview and Gameplay

Yoh Asakura travels with the samurai spirit Amidamaru while preparing for the Shaman King Tournament. The story unfolds through chapters that open new destinations, including towns, graveyards, shrines, and museums. Yoh speaks with characters, completes objectives, defeats rival shamans, and expands a collection of spirits.

Battles use turn-based commands with one active spirit at a time. Up to six spirits can form the active party, while additional spirits remain available for collection management. Spirits gain experience, learn techniques, and can be fused in compatible pairs to create different forms. Progress is measured through story advancement, stronger spirits, fusion discoveries, and Album completion.

Controls And Mechanics

The directional pad moves Yoh and navigates menus. A confirms commands, talks to characters, and examines objects; B cancels selections and makes Yoh run during exploration. Start opens the main menu, while L, R, and Select handle Album pages, views, and sorting functions.

Combat commands include Technique, Select Spirit, Item, and Flee. Mortuary Tablets capture eligible spirits, while salves and status remedies restore health or remove conditions. Techniques consume limited move points, and spirit attributes affect damage effectiveness. Save locations also restore the active party.

Version Notes

Sprinting Wolf is paired with Soaring Hawk. Each version contains a different selection of obtainable spirits, and compatible Game Link Cable trading lets owners exchange version-specific spirits.
