Overview and Gameplay
Zoids: Legacy follows Zeru Jupit after a ZOS accident merges different eras of Planet Zi. He travels through towns, ruins, research facilities, and stadiums while recruiting pilots and confronting forces that exploit the disruption.
Exploration leads to turn-based battles, story events, hidden items, and new services. Victories award experience, Gold Pieces, Zi Data, machine parts, and equipment. Zoids Institutes build, repair, upgrade, restore, or sell machines, while Challenging Mode presents a separate sequence of battles with preconfigured teams.
Controls And Mechanics
Teams use front, middle, and rear formation rows. Each Zoid spends EP to fire equipped weapons, then restores energy according to its generator rate. Weapon range, accuracy, weight, attributes, and target count affect each attack.
Pilots gain levels and develop through selectable growth types. Zi Data and required parts unlock new Zoids, while upgrades improve offense, defense, and generator output. Deck Commands can restore HP or EP, gather Zi Data, or change formation, and each selected command can be used once per battle.
Two-player link battles use separate systems and cartridges. The Transfer feature exchanges Zi Data connected to Zoid parts.
