Overview and Gameplay
Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban, Dementors patrol Hogwarts, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione investigate his connection to Harry’s past. The story moves through the Hogwarts Express, classrooms, corridors, school grounds, dungeons, the Shrieking Shack route, and the rescue of Sirius.
Exploration uses a diagonal overhead view with visible enemies, environmental puzzles, collectible cards, equipment, and story tasks. Contact with a creature begins a turn-based battle. Experience raises character levels, while Sickles buy potions, Chocolate Frogs, status cures, and gear. Story minigames later become replayable with difficulty settings and stored high scores.
Controls And Mechanics
The active character moves through each area, interacts with objects, and casts a selected field spell. Harry, Ron, and Hermione provide different abilities, including Lumos, Alohomora, Reparo, Spongify, Glacius, and Diffindo. In battle, Stamina Points measure health and Magic Points pay spell costs. Commands include spells, items, character abilities, and target selection.
Equipment changes defense, magical defense, and agility. Famous Witches and Wizards Cards unlock special combat effects, while the Folio Bruti records creatures. A defeated party usually returns to a nearby recovery point. Two linked GBA systems can exchange cards.
